The occasionally subtle flicker of creativity can go a long way, a slight shadow on a button, an animation that changes the original size or colour of an element if you hover over it, a link to a different page and many more.
These little things can be taken for granted but without them a site can look,barren, boring or even low effort. Not over doing it is also important, you don’t need to pepper everything with these subtleties, for instance, simple text doesn’t always need anything other than a font and colour that suits your business. Being straight to the point has a charm of it’s own!
I like to look on big company’s site’s to see the intricacy they implement to some of their elements. I’m a big fan of hover and scrolling animations, there’s something really professional about them as well as letting you know exactly where you are. Another subtle style I’ve noticed is how button’s or even menu links have a new fashion shape wise, years ago buttons used to be square shaped (some site’s still use square shapes and they are still a cool design choice) but now softer edges are all the rage, i’m guessing it may be more inviting and possibly more modern thus why a lot of company’s big and small are adopting this shape; On this point I’m also taking notice of some specific menu links, some menu links don’t even have a shape! Some links are just a word or even an icon. (e.g. A home symbol, basket, head and shoulders to depict a login)
Ultimately whatever your style, design, animation and colour preference I’m here for it! After all, it would be really boring if all sites looked the same, wouldn’t it?
