SEO Functionality

SEO functionality is a hidden gem to getting your site promoted on the web, Search Engine Optimisation can consist of anything from spelling, images and colour clashes! I always tend to look back at a page I’ve created and check the spelling with a fine toothed comb; Spelling errors can put the algorithm off as it isn’t a good look and therefore not SEO friendly.

Disability access is also a giant part of SEO as Some people may require a screen reader to aid them in navigating a site, that’s where alt-text comes into play, alt-text allows you to input a brief description as to what the image entails so that someone who struggles to read or is blind can understand what is on the screen.

Colour clashes are also important as some colours don’t just pair poorly but also can render your content hard to distinguish. If you were to have a section with a bright green as it’s background and a bright teal for text for example, someone with perfect 20/20 vision would struggle to read that! The perfect ratio is 4.5:1 for standard text and 3:1 for large text and for colour the golden ratio would be 60% dominant colour, 30% secondary colour and 10% accent colour.

With these guidelines your site should be elevated and reach more potential customers and receive more engagement!

Thanks.
